What to Pack in Your Changing Bag: The Complete Parent Checklist

One of the most common questions new parents ask is: what do I actually need in my changing bag? Pack too much and you'll strain your back. Pack too little and you'll find yourself in a crisis with no wipes.

We've put together the definitive checklist based on our experience and feedback from hundreds of NestnGo parents across the UK.

The Non-Negotiables

These are the items that should be in your bag every single time you leave the house, no exceptions:

  • Nappies — more than you think you need. At least 4 for a half-day trip.
  • Baby wipes — a full pack. Never leave home with half a pack.
  • Changing mat — the NestnGo bag comes with a foldable one included, so you're sorted.
  • Nappy sacks — for discreet disposal when there's no bin nearby.
  • Nappy cream — travel-sized is fine for day trips.

Feeding Essentials

Whether you're breastfeeding, formula feeding, or onto solids, you'll need:

  • Bottles in insulated pockets — the NestnGo side pockets keep plain hot water warm for 1–2 hours, so you can mix formula fresh at feeding time (standard NHS guidance: never carry pre-mixed warm formula for more than 2 hours)
  • Sterilised dummy and clip
  • Muslin squares (at least 3 — you'll use them all)
  • Bibs
  • Snacks if your baby is on solids

Clothing

  • One full change of clothes (two if your baby is prone to blowouts)
  • A light layer in case of unexpected weather
  • Socks — babies lose these constantly

For You

Don't forget the parent in this equation:

  • Phone charger or portable battery
  • Snacks (parenting is hungry work)
  • Your purse or wallet
  • Headache tablets — just in case

The NestnGo Advantage

One of the reasons parents love the NestnGo 3-in-1 bag is that everything has its place. You'll never be rooting through a bottomless pit of stuff trying to find the wipes again — each category of essential lives in its own dedicated pocket, ready exactly when you need it.
